AI Bandits/Heroes

I am looking at new scripts to replace the old one. I haven't been able to figure out how to modify WAI to work with vanilla, so I'm looking into other options. Just been busy. Did you like them?

They can see you up to 250m, the mission ones. Doesn't mean they'll necessarily engage you at that range though.

I'm finding that the zombies that swarm me while I'm shooting the bandits are giving me more trouble than the bandits.

So, we want more difficult bandits then? What needs to be tweaked? Accuracy of their fire, distance that they can see you? What's the main complaint with them?

The difficulty seems to vary greatly based on the location of the mission.  I took out a medical mission with around 18 bandits guarding it by just standing on a hill 600 meters away and sniping them.  They never shot at me.  On the other hand I died doing a bandit squad mission because they spawned in a valley with zombies on all sides.  The zombies heard the gunfire. Killing them did no good since they would just respawn and follow the noise again.  Granted I might have found a better spot to shoot from, I just don't know if there was one.

Their accuracy seems to be godlike right now, so whether I complete a mission or die is largely dependent on whether they shoot at me or not.  Is it possible to program the bandits to seek you out after you start shooting them? I would like to see that and a decrease in accuracy.  Their sight radius seems ok; on par with a rather observant player with a scoped weapon.

There are many variables I can tweak with this new system. I'll try to see if I can tweak it to something that works based on those perameters.

Just did a Helicopter mission.  I was using a DMR from a couple hundred meters away, on top of a hill and was being careful. Killed 20+ bandits.  Notable observations: I got shot at several times and was only hit once.  They did force me to run away and reposition several times.   They also spread out over a large area once I started shooting, making it a much more dangerous situation for me when I lost track of them.  I was getting shot at and I didn't know from where.  None of them charged directly at me, which probably saved my life.    

Also one of them took the Helicopter, circled me once and then flew off to who knows where.  I had no idea they could do that.  Didn't get to steal any parts from it which was a bummer, but the entire situation was funny.

You have to realize that this system is using arma 2's AI. They probably aren't going to rush directly to your position, they're going to try to flank you, which is the spreading out that you mentioned. That, I can't change.

Also, they do seek you out, but they are programmed to realistically act like a real soldier, not a video game player. If you're behind a tree, they may hear your gunshot but not be able to see where its coming from. Their awareness of your position goes up drastically at night, when they can identify your muzzle flash. So basically what I can do is tone down their accuracy. That will make it to where you can be shot at without being hit instantly, and I can increase their range that they can see you. But combat in ARMA 2 is realistic. If you're behind a tree or in a bush sniping from a couple hundred meters, there's nothing they will be able to so to find you.

Any chance of adding a larger mission? Like 50 bandits and huge payout?  I would like to do one that almost requires a few people to do it.

Did a mission today. It was in the middle of the woods and forced me to get with 300m of the bandits before I could get a good shot on them. Killing the 5 of them at that range was kind of difficult because of their rather erratic movement patterns. I still had fun, but the AN2 cargo plane that the mission gave out was impossible to use because of the missions location.
