Starting loadout

I am open to adding different items to the starting loadout. I do not want to make this a spray and pray pvp server where you start with a fully automatic machine gun and thousands of rounds. I am however, open to adding some decent starting equipment, especially since the AI already has guns... and at the moment, YOU don't. So give me your suggestions.

One way we could do it would be to simply start out with a hatchet and basic supplies (food, bandage, etc).

Some people, however think that hatchet/ machete is too overpowered already since it is completely silent. Some might think it would be better to start with a pistol and a few rounds. This would make you really think about whether or not you need to pop that shot off.

Others might like it the way it is. Hardcore, start with nothing.

I would like to start out with some basics. 1 can of beans, 1 soda, 1 bandage, a flashlight and something to whack zombies with.

Id say if we were to re-spawn with any type of weapon it would have to be a baseball bat cause really their only use is melee, but then again its completely silent. if ranged, id have to say a crossbow with one bolt, but again the silence and the ability to recover arrows is a not so good factor. BUT the reload is slow and you only have one shot before having to reload again, and there is a chance the arrow might break. Equipment wise, i dont think food or drink would be needed, the item spawning should be able to alleviate that problem. the bigger concern is the ais that are soon to be reintroduced if not already into the server, most likely going to execute bambis like i was when i first connected before they were taken down for repair.

so my verdict would be:
Crossbow
Flashlight
1xbandage
1xroad flare
1xwooden arrow

thats it, but i did request if you could make wooden arrows craft-able with wood piles so i dont know if the cross would be underpowerd still or not

Starting loadout is changed as of the next server restart. I might go ahead and change it to a crossbows.

I might have good news about those craftable arrows you want soon, SIG. Wink

If anybody happens to spawn in or die and respawn let me know if its working. Should have a hatchet and some other stuff at the moment. I didn't have time to test it out.

Just respawned, here's what I got:
raw beef
Can of Beans
Soda
10 Road flares
4 Bandages
Hatchet
Map
Civilian Flashlight.

No crossbow yet.

Right. I'm not gonna change it to crossbow until I get the arrow crafting working.

For me, a couple of bandages, a hatchet and a map make for a good starting set of items - enough to force you to venture out but enough to actually get started. I think a crossbow is too much to start with imo.

What about adding scrap metal to the starting loadout, that way you could craft a bike. Having this I realize will change the feel somewhat but I thought I'd throw it out there.
